An understated automotive icon, Project Blackbird is a one family 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX in nearly stock form. Purchased new in 1997, the GSX was the top trim line, offering buyers all wheel drive, a manual transmission, and turbocharged power in a svelte modern coupe. 1997 also marked the final visual refresh for the Eclipse, with the GSX receiving the very noticeable "whale tail" spoiler, and revised bumpers. This GSX was also ordered with the optional rear limited slip differential.

A stock engine and suspension are accompanied by a period correct Road Race Engineering down pipe  flowing into an Apexi N1 turbo back exhaust to decrease spool time and increase peak horsepower from the  factory T25 turbo.  The iconic 4g63 engine  is shown off with a deep tone and surprising rumble for an inline four.

Originally a daily driver, Project Blackbird awaits its slowly growing pile of parts, and an incredibly slowly growing budget to come out of retirement.
